When it comes to turning up the heat in between the sheets, couples remove their clothes as if their lives depend on it. However, after a few of minutes of rustling and tousling in bed, most couples are guilty of doing something that could be hurting their relationship: putting their clothes back on. In the Cotton USA poll of over 1, Brits, the findings revealed those who sleep in the nude have happier marriages and relationships. Fifty-seven percent of those who sleep in the nude reported being happy in their relationships compared with 48 percent of those in pajamas, 43 percent of nightie wearers, and 38 percent of those who sleep in onesies. The results of this survey come as good news for many, since four in 10 people now sleep naked, and almost half, or 45 percent of those over age 55 do so as well.
Everyone who shares a bed will face the issue of whether or not to sleep with their partner on nights when one of them has a cold or the flu. If one partner is sick, will the other come down with it because they share a bed? Can you get a good night's sleep when the person next to you is coughing, sneezing, or otherwise sick? If you are sick will you be more comfortable sleeping alone? The couples I interviewed for my book, Two in a Bed , offered reasons for sleeping together and also reasons to sleep apart when one of the partners has the flu or a cold.
Talking about sex with teenagers is something most parents find difficult; the teenage years are tough on both teens and parents. One topic that often comes up is when teenagers are allowed to have their boyfriend or girlfriend stay the night. Attitudes can vary widely depending on nationality. One country that has a very relaxed attitude is the Netherlands. Two-thirds of Dutch parents allow their 16 and year-old children to sleep with their partners in their homes.
If you call yourself a night-owl — you may prefer to sleep naked, according to new research. A new study of 2, Americans examined their sleeping habits and personalities in relation to whether they prefer to sleep in the buff or wear pajamas 1, respondents in each preference. Nude sleepers were more likely to call themselves night owls 38 percent , whereas pajama-wearers identified as a mixture between an early bird and night-owl 34 percent. And it turns out, self-confidence may not be that closely related to your choice of sleep attire. Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Mattress Advisor , the survey found pajama-wearers ranked their self-confidence as a six out 10, in comparison to only a five out of 10 from those who sleep in the buff.
